On May 16^th 2011, on behalf of Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children (ASDC), ASDC Chairman Mr. Al Zaeem, received Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, the European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid, and Crisis Response; Mr. Christian Berger, the EU Representative in the Palestinian Territories; Ms. Heinke Veit, Regional Information Officer; and Ms. Isabelle Seroin, Regional Team Leader for the European Commission. The current situation in the Gaza Strip was discussed.

Ms. Georgieva visited the different departments of ASDC and expressed that she was very impressed by the kindergarten children, as well as the overall program, and praised the impressive work of the deaf men and women in the Vocational Training and Crafts Production Unit.

Mr. Al Zaeem expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet this delegation, stating, “We deeply thank Ms. Georgieva for visiting us and for the generous funding and continuous support of the EU to ASDC, and to the Palestinian people in general.”
