On Saturday, May 22^nd 2010, Mr. Al Zaeem met a US delegation, which included politicians, academics and the Council for the National Interest Foundation (CNI) members Mr. David Newton, Ambassador and Vice-Chairman of CNI, and President of CNI Mr. Eugene Bird. The post-war situation and the effect of the closure on the daily life of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip were discussed.

The US delegation raised several suggestions about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the reconciliation among the Palestinian factions. Head of the delegation, Ambassador Mr. David Newton, said that the aim of the visit to Gaza was to assess the scale of the suffering of the residents in the enclave. He expressed that the delegation will convey the reality of the humanitarian situation to the US Congress and stated, "We hope to recover balance and stability to the Middle East."
