On June 16^th 2009, Mr. Al Zaeem met Former United States President and Founder of the Carter Center, Jimmy Carter, at the site of the destroyed American International School in Gaza. Mr. Al Zaeem briefed Mr. Carter about the school and the general situation in the Gaza Strip. Soon after the meeting, Mr. Carter held a press conference where he stated, "I come to the American school which was educating your children, supported by my own country. I see it's been deliberately destroyed by bombs from F16s made in my country and delivered to the Israelis. I feel partially responsible for this as must all Americans and all Israelis", adding that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are being "treated more like animals than human beings".Mr. Al Zaeem also met Mr. Carter at the UNRWA Field Office, among a Palestinian delegation of country leaders, where Mr. Carter was briefed on the terrible realities on the ground after the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.
